From Meade Gwinn and Patrick Kelly regarding the coyote presence within the Village of Nags Head

Due to the increased sightings of coyotes within the Village of Nags Head, and the reported concerns of our members, it was decided that this concern should be investigated. It was our intent to understand the coyote presence, and the potential for any threat to those who live and visit our community.   Click here to read the full announcement.

For additional information, please also read the brochure from the NC Wildlife Resources Commission entitled Coexisting with Coyotes by clicking here.

The management staff at Nags Head Golf Links would like to remind all residents and homeowners in The Village at Nags Head that the golf course is for registered golfers only.  With the summer months and the longer days, golfers are normally on the course between 7:00 am and 8:30 pm so this is for the safety of the homeowners and guests alike.  The golf cart path and course should not be used for walking, running, biking, dog walking or other activities.

All-in-all, the OBX is not faring to bad, especially in Nags Head!  Some excess water in the road but the Village is doing very well overall.  Now Kitty Hawk is a bit worse for wear.  These photos taken late afternoon on Sunday near the Black Pelican!

Focus Nags Head Project

Focus Nags Head was initiated in January 2015 by the Nags Head Board of Commissioners.  The goal is simple:  to determine the towns current needs, assess the towns long terms goals and then determine the best way to navigate the path to ensure those goals are achieved.  One of our Board members, John Juzwiak, has been appointed to the Advisory Committee and is looking for feedback from Village homeowners.  This is a fantastic opportunity to have a say in how our Town will look in 10 to 20 years.  For more information please go to  www.focusnagshead.com.  Please take special note of the CONTACT US button which allows you to sign up for updates and provide comments.

If you haven't been down to the south sound access recently, then you've missed the installation of a new swing!  The swing at the north beach access received such positive feedback that we have now installed one at the south access as well.  What a great way to watch a sunset!

The Village at Nags Head Property Owners Board of Directors encourages any owner who has an interest in our community and our Town, to be part of the Town's efforts to examine, refine, and unify the planning "vision" affecting all of us in the years ahead.  Please find below the details on an upcoming event--scheduled for September 28th.  Before completing the survey, you should read the "current vision" section, then the "questions to consider". The completed survey should be mailed, emailed, or turned into the Town's Planning Dept. by Sept. 21. If you can't read the details below, please contact Laurie Battaglia at laurieb109@gmail.com or Courtney Fowler at courtneyfowler@vrobx.com for a slightly cleaner version.

New beach mats for easier beach access

9/11/2015

As most of you have witnessed, the affects from the beach nourishment continue to evolve.  This past season we have seen a major increase in the size of the dune, which while a good thing, has presented some problems for accessing the beach.  In fact, we had to stop mid-stream the spring project of rebuilding the south beach access to accommodate the build-up over just a few months.  Unfortunately, this build-up also created a problem for the northernmost beach access.  The large build-up of sand near the steps made it difficult for people, especially those with bad knees, hips and ankles, to trudge through the soft sand.  After much consideration and after taking into account that the sand is continuing to shift, we elected to place beach mats at the access, which should enable people to maneuver the soft sand better, and can be rolled up in the off-season for storage. Thanks for your patience!  As always, we want feedback so please let us know what you think!
